Workshop on Effects of Positive and Negative Early Childhood Experiences on Young Adults
Professor Mahmuda Khanum Counseling and Guidance Center of IUBAT in association with the Department of Psychology organized a workshop on “Effects of Early Childhood Experiences on Young Adults” as the final event of the celebration of World Mental Health Day 2022. Theworkshop was held on Monday, 24th October 2022 in the IUBAT Conference Hall. Workshop conducted by renowned mental health activist Prof Dr. Mehtab Khanam, Honorary Professor, and Department of Psychology, University of Dhaka. The speaker discussed how our life is shaped by our early experiences, ways we can use those experiences to our benefit, and pathways to minimize the negative impact and regulate mood more effectively. The audience voluntarily interacted with the speaker and the number of questions from the audience in the question-answer session reflected the need and interest of people in mental health issues.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, the Chief Guest of the workshop, urged the audience to understand the importance of positive childhood experiences and reflect it in practice. Prof Dr Hamida Akter Begum, Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of Professor Mahmuda Khanum Counseling and Guidance Center, Professor Selina Nargis, Treasurer and Director of Administration of IUBAT were the guests of honor of the workshop. Deans, Chairs, Coordinators, Teachers, Officials, and Students also joined the workshop. Voluntary participation and spontaneous interaction of the audience made the event successful. Ms. Mita Mondol, Clinical Psychologist of Professor Mahmuda Khanum Counseling and Guidance Center was the Convener of the workshop.
