4th Death Anniversary of Prof. Mahmuda Khanum
Today is the 4th death anniversary of Prof Mahmuda Khanum, the first Pro-vice-chancellor and Board of member of IUBAT.
Prof Khanum did her M.A. from Indiana University, USA as well as from Rajshahi University (RU). She secured first class first in MA at RU. She did her BA from RU too. She was Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Establishment, and Ministry of Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs. She was also Deputy Financial Adviser of the Ministry of Health and Population Control. She was Assistant Education Advisor, Ministry of Education and Professor of Psychology under Bangladesh Senior Education Service. She was also acting Chairman of Bangladesh Women’s Rehabilitation and Welfare Foundation. She joined IUBAT as the Professor of Psychology and Director of Counseling and Guidance in 1992 following the inception of the university in 1991 and was appointed as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT1999.
Prof Khanum was a visionary woman and has made an enormous contribution to education, human development, peace and women empowerment. She was also a great contributor to the non-government university movement during the early days when the proposal for establishing IUBAT as the first non-government university was being developed. She had generous nature, a sense of humor, and had been a versatile educationist with all human qualities.
