World Environmental Day June 5, 2023
The World Environment Day-2023 observed with vibrant mode in IUBAT on 5 June 2023. There was rally that marched around campus to make aware the community people about the theme beat plastic pollution.
As an extension program, there was a Seminar focusing the solution to plastic pollution as the continuation celebrating World Environment Day-2023 on 7 June 2023. All the speakers of this seminar indicated how the plastic pollution killing the wildlife including human being. The speakers also emphasized that everyone has to become more aware about the plastic pollution and act properly. There was also the extensive discussion that how IUBAT is moving forward for sustainability issues through course curriculum and community work. Before the seminar, there was also a short exhibition where students showed to beat plastic pollution.
In this seminar, there were three guests from UNESCO, UNDP and Jahagairnagar University. Dr. Susan Vize, Officer in charge, Dhaka was the Chief Guest of this ceremony. However, Prof. Jamal Uddin, Chairman of the Environmental Science from Jahagirnagar University was the Keynote Speaker and Mr. Arif Mohammad Faisal, Program Specialist, from UNDP; Dhaka was the Guest of Honor. Beside them Honorable Vice Chancellor of IUBAT Prof. DrAbrurRab and Treasurer and Director Administration Prof Selina Nargis also delivered their speech. In addition, Dr. RehanDastagir delivered his Welcome speech along with some papepr presentation from Dr. Shafiqul Islam, Dr. Ferdous Ahmed, and Dr. SaymaAkter from the Environmental Science Department of IUBAT. Finally, the seminar was ended by a vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rimana Islam Papry.
