Mechanical Engineering Department has organized ‘Mechanical Day 2020’ on February 9, 2020 for observing 29th Foundation Day of IUBAT—International University of Business Agriculture and Technology. There was a seminar on ‘Career Building for Industry 4.0’ where respected speakers, Engr. Helal Uddin, GM, IAL, Singer Bangladesh Limited; Engr. Abdullah Al Masum, Production Officer, IAL, Singer Bangladesh Limited; Engr. Tofail Ahmed, Operative Director, Refrigerator R&D, Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited; Engr. Md. Hasmotuzzaman, CEO, Utility Professional and Prof. Md. Lutfar Rahman, Registrar, IUBAT have delivered their informative and inspiring speech about the prospective way of career development for Industry 4.0. From the talk, it has been portrayed that industry 4.0 is often misunderstood as fourth industrial revolution whereas industry 4.0 is a part of it. A major concern about the progress of industry 4.0 is that industry 4.0 considers industries as automated active with thousands of sensors and actuators. Industry will be monitored from a central point and many decisions will be executed from the center. In this concern, human labor required to run a plant will be decreasing apparently though skilled labor fit for the industry 4.0 is rare in the market. Thus, students graduating from engineering field should have consciousness about the scope and the required steps to prepare them for the situation coming ahead. A large number of students have eagerly attended the seminar to get the guidelines for their future career. The seminar was ended with the concluding speech by honorable Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT Professor Dr. Abdur Rab. Tokens of appreciation were handed over to guest speakers by Dr. Abdur Rab, Prof. Dr. Engr. A Z A Saifullah, Chair, ME.

Daylong Project Showcasing has attracted thousands of students and the guests presenting the current trend of the researches in the field of Mechanical Engineering. There were 27 projects presented by the students of Mechanical Engineering Department. The guest speakers and in-house faculty members have evaluated the projects to award prize to the top position holders though the guests have appreciated the quality of all the projects presented over the showcasing.

Mechanical Engineering Department is furnished with well equipped laboratories. Daylong Lab Exhibition was organized to focus the strength of the department to the audience. The guests have admired the availability of advanced technical equipments. They also have a high regard for the fact that IUBAT is facilitating other colleges and universities to perform their specific practical experiments i.e. calculating the drag and lift coefficient using wind tunnel; tensile test using ultimate tensile strength testing machine and so on.
