CTHM, IUBAT Celebrated World Tourism Day 2020

The College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) celebrated World Tourism Day 2020 in a befitting manner to integrate with global initiative through United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)’s declared theme for 2020 “Tourism and Rural Development”. In this COVID-19 pandemic, the seminar was started at 07:00 pm through zoom virtual platform. Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor of IUBAT graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Mr. Saeed Ahmed, Managing Director and Lead Consultant, HTS (Hospitality Total Solutions) Bangladesh Limited; Mr. Md. Al Amin, General Manager, Six Seasons Hotel; Mr. Syed Ghulam Qadir, Director, Biman Holidays; Mr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Head of Operations, Platinum Hotels; Mr. Farhad H. Mazumder, Head of Sales and Marketing, Ascott Hotels Dhaka were the guest speakers. All of the speakers highlighted the importance of the day and role of stakeholders in promoting Bangladeshi tourism industry in upcoming days through some long term initiatives. In the speech of chief guest, Prof. Dr. Rab assured that the THM graduates of IUBAT are actively participating to the development of tourism and hospitality industry of the country and thereby contributing to community development as well. Mr. Shaikh Ershad Hossain, Chair of CTHM delivered the welcome speech whereas Mr. Mohammad Abu Horaira, Coordinator of CTHM offered vote of thanks to the guest speakers and participants. Other faculty members from the department Ms. Farzana Al Ferdous and Mr. Yusuf Hussein Khan also shared their thoughts based on the theme of World Tourism Day 2020.
