Celebration of Krishibid Dibosh-2020

The College of Agricultural Sciences of IUBAT-International University of Business Agriculture and Technology celebrated the Krishibid Dibosh-2020 on 13 February’ 2020 at the IUBAT Seminar Hall (Room #235) and a seminar was organized entitled ‘Observance of Krishibid Dibosh-2020’. Prof. Dr. Golam Rasul, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur was present in the ceremony as the Guest of Honor and Session Chair. Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, the honorable Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT was present as the president of the ceremony.

Dr. Farjana Sultana, Associate Professor, College of Agricultural Sciences of IUBAT briefly emphasized the importance and contribution of agricultural sectors by the Krishibids and the scope of employment of Agriculture graduates of IUBAT in the institutes of professional interests. Dr. Sultana welcomed and appreciated the cordial participation of the invited dignitaries and senior students of College of Agricultural Sciences.

Dr. M Sayadur Rahman, Professor of College of Agricultural Sciences, IUBAT presented the keynote paper entitled ‘Krishibid Dibosh and its’ Importance” and narrated the current scenario of Agricultural problems, development and prospects of agriculture sector in Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Rahman repeatedly mentioned the contribution of the father of nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his declaration of the status of Krishibid in Bangladesh as class one. Dr. Rahman also concluded that the good governance in the Agricultural sectors can ensure imperatively to implement all the basically effective strategies as the responsibility of the government and the professional as well as civil society including private sector organizations.

The concerned agencies of the government will have to encourage the private sector in their endeavors for the increased availability of quality and appropriate technologies to cater the increasing demand of Agricultural improvement in Bangladesh. Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) would encourage for the development of tangible and intangible technologies through the Agricultural research and extension activities with the aim oriented to farmers demand in respect of climatic changes.

All government and non-government organizations led by the Krishibid community is strengthening with the help of necessary manpower and technical facilities to cover the whole country and demand-driven technologies. The quality of imported technologies from abroad have been adopted through the validation and properly justified and tested in government organizations led by the Krishibids and proper tests have been done in the laboratories before releasing to the farmers. KIB also encouraged the public -private partnership activities of the government to establish good governance in all sectors of agriculture and related donor supports to fulfill the agricultural activities all over Bangladesh. Finally, Prof. Dr. Sayadur Rahman appreciated the contribution by the Krishibids for encouragement and flourishing the venture in order to accelerate the agricultural development in Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Mujibur Rahman Khan delivered the research findings on the “Production and Prospects of Cherry Tomato in Bangladesh”. Prof. Dr Khan mentioned that already he has been able to produce different varieties of Cherry tomato in IUBAT which can be adopted by the farming community in future venture of Tomato production in Bangladesh. Dr. Khan is still continuing the research on production technology of Cherry Tomato at IUBAT. Professor Dr. Jiban Krishn Biswas delivered the production potentiality of the Rice developed by research organizations entitle “Rice Vision- 2050”. Dr Biswas narrated the chronological improvement of Rice in Bangladesh by the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute and others. Dr. Biswas also emphasized for producing nutrition rich rice varieties in future. Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Rasul, in his speech thanked College of Agricultural Sciences of IUBAT for organizing the seminar for the celebration of Krishibid Dibosh. He praised the Founder Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT Prof. Dr. M Alimullah Miyan for the inclusion of Agriculture as a degree achieving course and wished him for his peaceful eternal life in the haven. Prof. Dr. Rasul asked the students for preparing themselves as worthy citizen of Bangladesh and should gather agricultural knowledge under expert faculties of CAS. Dr. Rasul appreciated the valuable presentation on advanced research activities at IUBAT by Prof. Dr. M Sayadur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Mujibur Rahman Khan and Prof. Dr. Jiban Krishna Biswas. Professor Dr. M Shohidullah Miah, Dean of CAS emphasized the important role of Krishibid for developing Bangladesh in Agriculture sector. Dr. Miah showed the pathway to the senior BSAg students of IUBAT to get their job with higher education and also to get the membership from KIB. Professor Dr. Abul Khair, Chair, Miyan Research Institute of IUBAT urged the krishibid, BSAg students and faculty members of CAS to come forward with prospective and relevant research proposals which will be funded by Miyan Research Institute for the proposed projects. Professor Dr. Hamida Akhter Begum, Pro-Vice Chancellor of IUBAT expressed her satisfaction for organizing such a nice seminar on the Krishibid Dibosh with a hope that the
students of CAS will develop themselves under the guidance of the specialized faculties of CAS.

In his presidential speech, Professor Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor of IUBAT congratulated the Krishibids for their immense contributions towards the agricultural development of Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Rab also emphasized the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the recognition of Krishibids for successful contribution to the Agricultural development in Bangladesh for which Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in food production.

He also suggested to conduct research to produce healthy and chemical free food so that we can get rid of many gastrointestinal problems and diseases. Now, it is the right time for Agriculturist to grow and supply healthy and organic foods for the consumers. Other faculty members of the College of Agricultural Sciences were also participated at the program: Professor Dr. Emdadul Haque, Professor Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Anil Chandra Basak, Professor Dr. Md. Salahuddin, Prof. Dr. Ismail Hossain, Professor Dr. Md. Salim Ullah Khan Yusufzai, Dr. Shaila Sharmin, Dr. Ferdous Ahmed, Dr. Abul Khair, Dr. Sayma Akter, Dr Anamika Nasrin and other faculties from different disciplines of IUBAT were also present. About 200 senior BSAg students of CAS also participated in this seminar.
