World Tourism Day 2024

As in preceding years, World Tourism Day was celebrated in 2024 with an Academic Discussion on “Tourism and Peace” hosted by the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the IUBAT-International University of Business, Agriculture, and Technology.

Chief Guest of the program was  Mr Constantinos S. Gavriel,  General Manager, Le Meridien, Dhaka . The Special Guests were Mr Syed Mehran Hussain, Director of Marketing, Hotel Sarina, Dhaka and Mohammad Asadul Haque, special Inspector (Cabin Safety), Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh.

Honorable Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab was presented as President of the ceremony. In the Discussion, there were also Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman and Some proud Alumni from different renowned organizations.

They delivered their thoughts on the discussion. Mr. Constantinos S. Gavriel, General Manager, Le Meridien Dhaka, Mr. Syed Mehran Hussain, Director of Marketing, Hotel Sarina Dhaka,  Mr. Mohammad Asadul Haque, Special Inspector ( Cabin Safety), Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh. Prominent academician Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Abdur Rab president of the ceremony and Pro Vice Chancellor Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman were shared their views and thoughts on theme “ Tourism & Peace”. Proud Alumni of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management Mr. Tanvir Hassan Bin Khaleque, Head of Sales at The Palace Luxury Resort; Mr. Saif Ul Alam Tanzu, Sales Manager at Intercontinental Dhaka; Mr. Sadee Islam, Sales Manager at Le Meridian Dhaka; and Mr. Md. Farhad Hossain Mazumder also have shared their impactful journeys and future perspectives of the Tourism and Hospitality industries with students.

The panel discussion came to an end with some recommendations for Tourism sustainability. They mentioned steps that we can take to address the emerging investment needs of the tourismsector vis-à-vis education. A few strategies for accelerating climate innovation were also discussed, including three zero concepts. The panelists went over the need for improved coordination between the public and private sectors, the importance of conducting personal risk assessments for both travel and personal safety, the need for an international framework for coordination that allows for safe movement, the need to offer employees special assistance, and the importance of making significant improvements to tourism education and training.

Respected Chair, Coordinator, Faculty members, and students of CTHM were also took part in the discussion. The program ended with a Vote of Thanks, delivered by Mst Sumyia Akter, Lecturer, CTHM of IUBAT.
