SDG Training program at BARD, Cumilla
IUBAT Institute of SDG Studies (IISS) have attended the Training on “Engaging University Faculties for Capacity Building in Achieving SDGs on Sustainable Food and Agriculture” organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Bangladesh held at BARD Cumilla during 13 to 17 October 2019. Prof Dr Mohammed Ataur Rahman, Director, IISS and Dr Muhammad Rehan Dastagir, Deputy Director, IISS along with 60 faculty members from different universities were participated in the training.
The objective of the training program was to orient SDGs among university faculty members. This faculty development program will promote the dissemination of SDGs knowledge to the student body. The speakers of the program also confessed that in achieving goals, research and policy support from educational institutions and the role of faculty members are very crucial.
It was a rigorous program in terms of resource persons and training materials. Among the distinguished speakers Mr Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Coordinator (SDGs), Prime Minister’s office; Dr Shamsul Alam, Senior Secretary Planning Commission; Dr M. Feroze Ahmed, water expert; Resource persons from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences also conducted training in the week long program.
