IUBAT – UI GreenMetric ranked university
International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) ranked 257th world’s most sustainable university in the UI GreenMetric University Ranking 2020, released on 7 December 2020. This year, 912 universities from 84 countries have been ranked under the UI GreenMetric 2020. Wageningen University and Research, the Netherlands has been ranked as the first university while Oxford University, UK has been ranked the second.
The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is the first and only university ranking in the world that measures each participating university’s commitment in developing an “environmentally friendly” infrastructure. The rankings look at 6 indicators of each university: setting and infrastructure (15 per cent), energy and climate change (21%), waste (18%), water (10%), transportation (18%), and education and research (18%).
IUBAT is the first non-government university founded in 1991 in Bangladesh by Prof Dr M Alimullah Miyan. The Founder declared the university as a Green Campus in 2008 with the vision of providing an environment designed for learning with embedded sustainability in higher education. This has come true. In this series of UI GreenMetric World ranking, IUBAT is ranked second top sustainable green campus in Bangladesh.
