IUBAT ranked Bangladeshi university in UI Green Metric
International University of Business Agriculture & Technology (IUBAT) ranked 241st world’s most sustainable university in the UI Green Metric University Ranking 2019, released on 3 December 2019. This year, 780 universities from 85 countries took part, which is an increase from last year with 719 universities from 81 countries. Several new countries have just joined this year, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Guatemala, Mauritius and Uzbekistan.
The UI Green Metric World University Rankings is the first and only university rankings in the world that measures each participating university’s commitment in developing an “environmentally friendly” infrastructure. The rankings look at 6 indicators of each university: setting and infrastructure (15%), energy and climate change (21%), waste (18%), water (10%), transportation (18%), and education and research (18%).
IUBAT celebrates of being ranked the 241st world’s most sustainable university at IUBAT conference hall, Uttara, Dhaka. Ms. Habibun Nahar MP, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, was present as the chief guest.. Jubaier Alim, Chairman of Board of Trustees, IUBAT attended as guest of honor. Prof. Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, chaired the program. The ceremony was witnessed by about 300 participants including deans, coordinators and faculty members of all colleges, staffs, and students.
The welcome address was given by Prof. Ataur Rahman, Director, IUBAT institute of sustainable development studies. Hasanuzzaman Tushar, Senior Faculty, College of Business Administration, presented fact file of IUBAT in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.
Prof. Dr. Hamida Akhter Begum, Pro Vice-chancellor of IUBAT; Prof. Selina Nargis, Treasurer and Director Administration; Prof. Lutfar Rahman, Registrar of IUBAT and other distinguished high officials were also present at the ceremony.
