IUBAT Held SDG Resource Persons Orientation Session
IUBAT Institute of SDGs Studies (IISS) has the vision to advance Bangladesh in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education, training and research activities. The Institute works in coordination with the Curtin University of Sustainability Policy (CUSP), Perth, Australia. The IISS organized an orientation of the resource persons on Sunday, 22 September 2019 in IUBAT campus.
Keynote Speaker of the occasion Prof Dr. Md. Amzad Hossain, Coordinator, Bangladesh Chapter, Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP), Perth, WA and Member, GC, IISS highlighted different aspects of SDGs with focus on role of IISS in implementing these goals.
Prof Selina Nargis, Treasurer of IUBAT and Executive Director, IISS traced out the past record of IUBAT and the role of Founder- Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Alimullah Miyan in promoting sustainability issues culminating into the establishment of IISS.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Abdur Rab presided over the occasion and highlighted the important roles of the resource persons in implementing SDGs through various action programs of IISS.
Prof Dr. Mujibur Rahman Khan, Director, IISS, rendered the welcome address. The session was attended by government officials including additional secretaries, experts from universities and other organizations. The participants were actively engazed in discussing the prospects for implementing SDGs and the way the resource persons can contribute to it.
