IUBAT College of Agricultural Sciences Observed Krishibid Dibosh-2022

IUBAT College of Agricultural Sciences observed Krishibid Dibosh-2022 on February 13, 2022. An online seminar was organized on this occasion. Kbd Prof. Dr. Md. Ali Akbar, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Agriculture University was the chief guest and Dr. Humnath Bhandari, Country Representative, IRRI Bangladesh and Kbd A F M Hayatullah, Chairman, BADC were special guests. Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, the Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT presided over the ceremony. The Keynote Speaker was Dean of Agriculture Prof Dr Shohidullah Miah.

Agricultural advancement of Bangladesh in production of food, hilsha fish, rice and potato and the invaluable role of Krishibids played in such advancement were emphasized. The spearheading contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the recognition of Krishibids that created an enabling environment for agriculture was discussed. History of Krishibids, significance of the day, role of small holders, farmers, education and training institutions as well as interplay between our culture and agriculture took surface in the discussion. The indispensability of high-level research in organic agriculture for a healthy nation, better future and sustainability was highlighted throughout the interactions.

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) is the first private university to introduce a bachelor’s program in agriculture in Bangladesh. The data explaining the contributions of IUBAT through developing around one thousand well-trained graduates for agriculture was presented.

Among others, Kkd Professor Dr M A Faruque, Kbd Prof Dr Ismail Hossain, Kbd Prof Dr M Sayadur Rahman, Kbd Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Associate Professor Dr Farjana Sultana from the IUBAT College of Agricultural Science spoke in the seminar.
