IUBAT Celebrates Omar Ekushe and International Mother Language Day 2022
International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) celebrated the Martyr Day and International Mother Language Day with due solemnity and respect in memory of martyrs of language movement.
The program began with the national anthem, and hoisting the national flag to half-mast. Floral Wreaths were placed at the Shahid Minar of IUBAT by BoT Secretary Engr Wasil Hasan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hamida Akhtar Begum and Registrar Prof. M Lutfar Rahman the Deans, Chairs, Directors, Coordinators, faculty members, students, officers and staff members with representation from entire ranks and files of the university.
Documentary on language movement was presented during the discussion session held at IUBAT auditorium and many participants shared their real-life memories of the movement. Roles of Bangladeshi Canadians were highlighted in having the day recognized by the UNESCO. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted his experience of the movement, the significance of the day, and urged all to respect the Shaheeds by using Bengali in all walks of life. Speakers from among Teachers, Officers, Staff, and Students paid respect to the Shahids and underscored the importance of mother tongue.
